The Boxing System is the standard by which frame and lens measurement is observed and notated, formally adopted in 1962 by the Optical Manufacturers Association. It works by drawing a bounding box around the lens shape, with the frame oriented so the bottom of the eyewire is flat and level. All measurements are specified in millimeters.
