The Tenite trademark, registered in 1932 by Tennessee Eastman Corporation and now held by Eastman Chemical Company, covers a family of cellulose ester compounds formulated for injection molding. These materials bridge the premium aesthetics of traditional acetate and the production efficiency of thermoplastic molding, and they offer properties that neither sheet acetate nor synthetic polymers fully replicate. Eastman developed compounded cellulose acetate for molding in 1929, three years before the trademark was registered.
