02-01-2025, 06:41 PM #1My name is Harry Chilinguerian I own a small studio called Optscureal Limited, I specialize in "helping opticians realize the value of obscure optical knowledge". My goal 20 years ago was to teach frame making to opticians through MakeOptics, at the time the industry was not ready and most opticians pushed back. I now look around and see a vibrant community of professionals that have taken up the craft of making frames. I'm glad to be here and happy to share.

Myself and my buddy Ruben are just about to embark on a manufacturing project, making our own range of optical and sunglasses frames, we can use all the help we can get, so if anybody has any tips, pointers, guides etc they would be gratefully received…. ( if anybody has a guide to the manufacturing process step by step or something similar it would be amazing)
I am always happy to share and help out in anyway I can, as is Ruben…just give us a shout
Just wanted to also say that I love this shared and mutual help platform, it is as things should be and is really refreshing and unusual in our sector.

Hi ! My name is Dennis Megaffin. I work an an accountant for an auto manufacturing company, and am working to manufacture frames in my spare time, with the goal of making 10 a week. I have slowly over the last 18 months been gathering the equipment necessary to complete the entire process in an efficient manner. I am engaged to an optometrist and she is an excellent resource. I’m excited to participate in this community!
I am passionate about manufacturing, and frame making has been a fun outlet for me to learn something new and be creative. I have a simple setup in my garage with a CNC machine and some equipment from Small Batch Tools. So far, this has been a really fun challenge for me, and the support from the community has been outstanding.
I am looking forward to learning more and conversing with everyone on here.
Hello, I'm Carl Kanner. Like Dennis, I am new to this and only produce in small quantities as a hobby. In my career I am one of the owners of a company called Smith Corona that makes labels for shipping and barcoding. We are about 10% of the US market and we also produce various sub-components like adhesives and coatings.
I am passionate about manufacturing, and frame making has been a fun outlet for me to learn something new and be creative. Hey all, I'm Zach Kastner. I am an optician based out of Milwaukee, WI and own a shop called Shorewood Opticians. I took Kevin's class back in 2021 and am just finally now getting around to making frames. Can't wait to talk shop and participate in some group buys.
